The Group Design Project at the Heriot-Watt University Institute of Petroleum Engineering recently organised in the foyer of the Postgraduate Centre a training session for students on the development of team management and leadership skills.
As part of this training, Shell offered a workshop and a Pit Stop Challenge, a practical learning experience for students where they put their teamwork skills into action by changing the wheels on a Formula One Ferrari racing car in the fastest time possible.
"This competition helps students to identify what skills make a good leader and is a great opportunity for them to improve their ability to perform under pressure and their communication skills. These are all the type of skills that we are looking for," said Nick Brown, marketing Manager Graduate Recruitment of Shell.
Shell has been participating actively in Institute of Petroleum Engineering activities to attract and recruit students interested in pursuing technical, science and business opportunities in the company.
Students enjoyed the challenge and the photographs show that it was a great learning experience.
