A Heriot-Watt graduate, Dr. Pietro Evangelista, has won the James Cooper Memorial Cup for the best PhD on a logistics topic in the UK, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
This is the second time in three years that a Heriot-Watt PhD student has won this prestigious award.
The prize, in memory of Professor James Cooper, was inaugurated in 2000. It is awarded annually to students at UK or Republic of Ireland universities for research that makes an original contribution to the field and is directly relevant to the management of the end-to-end supply chain.
Pietro was awarded the prize for his thesis titled: "Dissemination of information and communication technology in supply chain management: the impact on small and medium sized transport and logistics service providers".
Pietro will be presented with a cash prize of £500 and the Memorial Cup at the annual Logistics Research Network conference in September.
