Heriot-Watt's working with industry initiative, known as the Converge project, has recently appointed an Enterprise Fellow, Mr Robert McKinney, to join its expanded team based within Technology and Research Services (TRS).
The Enterprise Fellow post is designed to respond to increased requirements for support on intellectual property and contractual matters for the Converge Business Development team. In addition, this post will increase the broader engagement of Heriot-Watt with industry by supporting the commercial exploitation of intellectual property from the University.
Having recently qualified as a Scottish solicitor, Robert is keen to embrace his new role and to engage regularly with academics at the University: "Heriot-Watt's ethos of entrepreneurship and commercialisation is clear and this is a fantastic opportunity to facilitate commercialisation activities, I'm really looking forward to working with the team."
Promoting the value of enterprise and business is what Heriot-Watt is all about. The additional post in the Converge team marks an important step in further supporting the Focus on the Future aims to bring together, develop and support business and academia.
