Professional Bodies Bursary

A 10% tuition fee waiver is offered to all members of the following professional bodies, and also to all spouses and/or children of the members.

The Datuk Seri (Dr.) Michael Yam – CIOB Bursary
Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) is pleased to announce the establishment of two bursaries under ‘The Datuk Seri (Dr.) Michael Yam – CIOB Bursary’, to nurture the deserving bright young minds at the University’s Malaysia campus, who would be joining this industry in the upcoming September intake.
  • Bursary 1
    • Total of RM10,000 to support up to four (4) new commencing students for their first year of their undergraduate degree in Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying as well as Postgraduate MSc degree in Construction Project Management, who would be starting their studies in the September 2021 intake.
  • Bursary 2
    • Total of RM10,000, to support two (2) current students undergoing their undergraduate degree in Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying, whose financial standing may have been impacted by the pandemic situation.

Yayasan DayaDiri Local Private University Scholarship Programme
For young, talented Malaysians to pursue January 2021 intake undergraduate programmes in the fields of Engineering, Business and Management, Actuarial Science, Data Science or Built Environment at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

The scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses for the duration of study.


  • Malaysian Bumiputera (including Peribumi Sabah, Sarawak, and Orang Asli) whose total household income does not exceed RM4,850 per month;
  • Minimum CGPA 3.0 in Foundation programme, or first-semester degree programme or its equivalent;
  • Received acceptance offer from Heriot-Watt University Malaysia for 2021 intake in the following fields of study: Engineering (with focus on Mechanical Engineering), Business and Management, Actuarial Science, Data Science or Built Environment (with focus on Quantity Surveying).
  • Excel in academic and co-curricular activities
  • Fulfill other requirements and selection criteria.

Gamuda Scholarship
Civil engineering and architecture are two of the most important disciplines that Gamuda is investing in through the Gamuda Scholarship. In line with the strategic implementation of Malaysia’s Transformasi Nasional 50, these disciplines play crucial roles in Gamuda’s nation building agenda.
Gamuda accepts scholarships for the following field of studies:
  • Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying / Building Surveying / Construction Management
  • Technical Sciences (Geology, Geomatics)
  • Township & Urban Planning
  • Architecture / Landscape Architecture
  • Property & Real Estate Management
  • Accounting / Finance / Business IT
  • Human Resource / Psychology

Overseas course of study offered to

  • Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Environmental)


  • Obtained at least 3As in the recent STPM or equivalent (eg. A-Levels, Matriculation, Foundation, Diploma)
  • A good command of English, leadership qualities, right values and character, drive and a commitment to excel
  • Gained acceptance into any reputable institution (i.e. top universities in Malaysia/the world) at time of interview to pursue a full-time first degree programme
  • Must show proof of financial need
  • Willing to serve the Gamuda Group for a specified period upon graduation
  • Must not be a recipient of a scholarship, loan or financial assistance from any other organization

Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarship Award
Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarship Award is one of the leading programmes in the insurance industry. Since 1998, Great Eastern Life has awarded over RM11.2 million to 157 recipients who dared to dream, to be different, and took the lead in realising those dreams.

Requirements for the Great Eastern Supremacy Scholarship are:

  • Malaysian
  • Below 22 years old
  • Have obtained a confirmed or a conditional offer from a list of approved universities
  •  Minimum 3.5 CGPA or its equivalent at pre-university level (STPM / Foundation / Matriculation) or 2As and 1B for A-Levels / Foundation

Maxis What's Next Scholarship
Maxis' What's Next Scholarship is a programme specially designed for those interested in pursuing a post-graduate degree (in any field of your choice).

Entry Requirements

  • Are a Malaysian who isn't currently bonded with any organisation
  • Have an offer letter from the university to pursue a post-graduate degree
  • Have a track-record of academic achievements
  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy working in fast-paced environments
  • Speak and write English very well
  • Have a minimum of 3 years working experience
  • Possess proven leadership qualities
  • Are a high-achiever, very motivated and possess a dynamic personality

All scholarship recipients will work with the Maxis team upon completing their postgraduate studies.

MNRB Scholarship Fund
The MNRB Scholarship Fund was established by MNRB Holdings Berhad in 1 April 1998 with an objective to assist in the development of the nation’s insurance and takaful industries by enabling promising students to have access to quality education in order to produce quality insurance and takaful professionals for the long term development of the Malaysian insurance and takaful industries.
Since then the Fund has awarded more than 430 bright Malaysians from all races to pursue full-time studies in Actuarial Science, Risk Management and Insurance at local universities. The Fund, in collaboration with the Malaysian Insurance Institute (MII), also awards scholarships to employees of the local insurance industry to pursue part-time studies for the Diploma of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (DMII) and the Associateship of the Malaysian Insurance Institute (AMII) certifications at MII.

IOI Group Scholarship (Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng)
  • Yayasan Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng is a non-profit organisation funded by the IOI Group which is a large and reputable public listed group. IOI Group’s core industries are in oil palm plantations (resource-based manufacturing such as refineries, oleo-chemicals and specialty oils and fats) and property development. We invite applications from qualified Malaysian citizens who have obtained admission into the first or second year of undergraduate study in local public and private universities in the following disciplines:

YTL Foundation - Heriot-Watt University Malaysia Scholarship

YTL Foundation offers scholarships to deserving Malaysian students to pursue their undergraduate degrees at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia. The scholarship also includes an opportunity to study abroad at the UK campus.

Preferred programmes:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Project Management


  • Students must generally come from families who would find it a challenge to finance tuition fees and living expenses.
  • Must be Malaysian Citizens 
  • Applicants must be full-time students
  • Must have good academic results. 
  • Good community service/extracurricular records. 
  • Accepted into good and recognised academic institutions.

Documents in soft copy to be uploaded:

  • Photocopy of ID
  • Photocopy of proposed Surety’s ID
  • Copies of certificates (PMR, SPM, Matriculation, IGCSE/STPM/A-Levels)
  • Offer letter or equivalent from university
