Roles and responsibilities

Nurul Zahirah is Assistant Professor with the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.


A quantity surveyor by training, Nurul Zahirah is a member of the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM). Before joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, she served as an academic at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology and then moved on to work at the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW) to set up and lead the Masters in Project Management program. She is currently doing her PhD degree in Cost Management, specialising in green building soft costs and developer decision behaviour at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Prior to that, she obtained MSc in Project Management and BSc in Housing, Building and Planning (Quantity Survey) with Second Upper Class Honours at the same university.  She has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed indexed journals and presented in international conferences throughout her career.
