Roles and responsibilities

Izma is an Assistant Professor at the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.


Dr. Nurul Izma Bt Mohammed obtained her PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia in the field of Environmental  Engineering (Air Pollution), with a focus on the development and assessment of a new index of crops reduction due to the air pollution by using mathematical formulations. Her research interest is in computational mechanics involving employment of FEM and other numerical techniques for mass transport especially on the air plume dispersion and climate change modelling.

Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University, she held various posts in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS including Assistant Programme Manager for MSc Environmental Engineering in Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries, Mobility Coordinator, and other departmental post besides served as an academic. She has supervised and co-supervised four PhD students and one Masters student (full-time research) and published several articles in engineering and environmental sciences journals and conferences.
