Ir Choo Chee Ming is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
He has completed some research activities related to the wastewater and membrane technologies, and published several journals and conference papers locally and internationally.

Ir Choo Chee Ming holds a Master of Engineering (Environmental) from Griffith University Australia, and a B.Eng. (Chemical Engineering) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He received with the Griffith Award For Academic Excellence 2001. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia and National Engineering Register (NER), and a Professional Engineer with Practicing Certificate registered with Board of Malaysia (BEM), as well as registered with ASEAN Engineer, APEC Engineer International Professional Engineer.
His expertise lies in industrial water and wastewater treatment for food industries, contaminated soil and groundwater remediation and Environmental and Health and Safety services related to oil and gas industries. Prior to coming to Heriot-Watt University in 2016, he was employed for 11 years by Fortune 500 companies listed on the NYSE such as ENSR-AECOM and CH2MHill as a chemical/environmental engineer/senior project manager. He has 5 years’ experience as a Head of Chemical Engineering Discipline/Senior Lecturer/Industrial and External Linkages Leader in Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at SEGi University. He has been involved in teaching the UK Dual Award Bachelor Degree and the UK Degree Transfer programme. He received with the “Best Faculty Staff Award 2015” in SEGi University.
He was the Principal Investigator for a research grant in a membrane properties study. He is currently the Honour Treasurer of Engineers Australia Malaysia Chapter. He is currently theChairman of Environmental Engineering Technical Division, Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). He serves as Professional Interviewer in IEM as well as the Engineering Accreditation Panel Member for Engineering Accreditation Department (EAD), BEM.
