Roles and responsibilities

Ashley Hong is an Assistant Professor with the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.


Her research areas of interest include sustainable design, passive design strategies, Feng Shui and building design, and building design and health. She has presented and published her works at various international conferences and peer-reviewed indexed journals throughout her career. She has also won the Best Paper Award in one of the International conference she participated in.


Ashley holds a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) and a Master in Science (Building) from University of Malaya. She is currently pursuing her PhD with University of Malaya. She is also a graduate member of the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia.

Ashley started her career in tertiary education in 2005. She has been teaching in various core subjects in Quantity Surveying courses for undergraduate programmes. Prior to her academic experiences, she has been working with QS consultants and  oil and gas construction company for some years. She was also a freelance QS consultant in various projects including the construction of factories, private school buildings, palm oil mill etc.
