Dr Sheila Wright

Visiting Professor

Dr Sheila Wright is widely regarded as a thought leader in the Competitive Intelligence (CI) field. Her academic research has appeared in refereed Journals such as: Marketing Intelligence & Planning, European Journal of Marketing, R & D Management, Strategic Change, Journal of Marketing Management, Thunderbird International Review, Journal of Competitive Intelligence & Management, and Palgrave Handbook of Public Affairs. She is also the author of ‘The Financial Times Marketing Casebook’ 1/E and ‘Competitive Intelligence, Analysis and Strategy: Creating Organisational Agility’.

Dr Wright's key interest is the role which CI can play in improving organisational performance and the development of well-crafted competitive strategies. She has been responsible for the introduction of CI and the concept of Insight Management (IM) into many firms, notably, two blue-chip UK companies, a mid-sized UK/US agribusiness, a UK civil engineering firm, a global automobile manufacturer and a US investment management firm. 

She is experienced in tackling the practical problems facing managers who wish to capitalise on CI&IM practice. She has ishared her knowledge through over 40 in-house corporate or public workshops, post-graduate level tuition, business development consultancy.

Dr Wright has also hosted educational assignments in UK, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, France, South Africa, USA and notably, Abu Dhabi, at the invitation of His Excellency, Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri.

Dr Wright has 22 years of academic experience at De Montfort University including teaching, research, staff mentoring, introduction of in-company projects and live case study assessments on PG programmes, academic leadership and key roles in several organisational change initiatives. Her academic background also includes:
