Kerstin joined Heriot-Watt University in 2018, taking on the role of Associate Professor in Human Resource Management, having previously worked at Stirling University. Kerstin has always had a keen interest in understanding workplaces and the people therein, and more recently turned her interest to pedagogy and purpose-driven education.
She is currently the Head of Learning and Teaching for the Department of Management. In 2022, Kerstin and her team won the ‘Pioneering in Education’ award for their work on the course ‘Becoming a Professional’. She also recently presented her work on C17PS and the Impact Statement training at the Academy of Management Conference alongside Prof Heather McGregor and Prof Mushtak Al Atabi.
Kerstin holds a PhD in Management from the University of Stirling, an MSc in Occupational Psychology from the University of Nottingham, and a BA (Hons) in Psychology and Organisation Studies from Lancaster University.

- Political economy of policing, diversity management, selection and recruitment, the professionalisation of the Police Service in Scotland, soft skills and service work
