Dr Jia Lu

Assistant Professor of Finance

Jia (Lucy) Lu is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh, UK). She received her PhD in Banking and Finance from Glasgow Caledonian University (UK) in 2017. She also holds MSC Financial Service, Risk and Operation from Glasgow Caledonian University (UK); MSC International Marketing from University of West of Scotland (UK) and BA degree in Business and Economy from Beijing Union University (China). 

Her main research interests revolve around financial management, corporate governance, corporate finance, bank risk-taking behavior, firm performance, financial technology and capital markets.

Background

Dr Lu previously worked at Liverpool Hope University as a lecturer in Accounting and Finance between September, 2017 to April, 2020. Acting as the module leader for Financial Management, International Finance and Contemporary Research in Finance for undergraduate and postgraduate levels, she delivered learning materials using the Blended teaching strategy in conjunction with education technologies such as Kahoot and Mentimeter. During this time, she was awarded director of MA International Economics and Finance and was also awarded a postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning. She now is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In addition to teaching, Dr Lu acted as chair of Assurance of Learning (AoL) in AACSB accreditation team and the representative of Business School in Faculty Quality Learning and Teaching Committee.
