Dr Alan Logan works as a Data Scientist in the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight and the Centre for Logistics and Sustainability in the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University.

Background
Alan gained an undergraduate MMath degree from the University of St Andrews in 2009, and then a PhD in 2014 from the University of Glasgow. He was awarded the William Jack Prize in 2016 for the most outstanding PhD student in Mathematics at the University of Glasgow over the preceding three years.
Since completing his PhD, he has held several research and teaching positions, including at Glasgow, Heriot-Watt and St Andrews universities. His research to date has been in (pure) mathematics and computer science. Most recently, he has been teaching on Heriot-Watt's Data Science for Graduate Apprentices programme.
