The course is designed to equip students to tackle innovative and challenging professional tasks associated with energy provision and utilisation. Students will acquire skills to take responsibility for decision-making where energy and the environment are important issues. Building on a sound engineering foundation, students will be introduced to specialised energy topics, management and environmental impact assessment.

Your student experience

The Dubai Campus is accredited by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and fully licensed to teach its degrees in Dubai. All graduates receive a British degree that is accredited by Royal Charter in the UK.

The Mechanical Engineering degree is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE.), who are licensed by the Engineering Council to accredit academic programmes from universities and colleges that drive young engineers toward professional registration as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.

Course content

September Intake

The early years are based on the Mechanical Engineering programme, developing basic mathematical, scientific and communication skills.

Subjects include Physics, Design and Manufacture, Materials Science, Engineering Sciences, Electronics and Foundation Mathematics and relate fundamental mechanical engineering principles to the design of energy systems.

Fees and funding

AED 76,045 per year

  • All tuition fees inclusive of VAT.

Entry requirements

We have standard entry requirements for all of our courses that you will have to meet.

Our entry criteria are listed below. However, please note that the final decision remains at the discretion of the course director after evaluating scores of individual relevant subjects.

  • GCE A-Level - CCC (or AABB at AS-Level) 
  • CBSE/Other Indian Boards - 65%. 
  • American High School Diploma/SABIS - 70% + SAT I – 1000 (500 English and 500 Math) 
  • Tawjihiyya - 80% or Elite/Advance - 75% - Eng, Math & Physics + EmSAT English 1400, Math 1200 and 1100 Physics 
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 24 points (3 HL – including Maths and Physics, and 3 SL)  
  • BTEC Level 3 Ext Diploma - MMM 
  • FBISE grade 12 or equivalent – 70% 
  • Russian/Kazakhstan (Attestat) - Grades of 5 in every subject + IELTS 6.0 
  • French Baccalaureate - 13/20 + IELTS 6.0 
  • Lebanese Baccalaureate - 80% or 13/20 + IELTS 6.0 
  • Foundation year - Successful completion of Heriot-Watt University Degree Entry Programme (Engineering) with a CCCC. 
  • Compulsory subjects to include Mathematics, Physics and English.
