Donor helping financially constrained students reach their true potential
Heriot Watt donor Bryan Milton, graduated from the University in 1986 with a BSc in Chemical Engineering before embarking on a successful career in the oil and gas industry in the USA.
Speaking from Houston, Texas where he now lives, Bryan recalled his student experiences fondly: “I had a fantastic four years at Heriot-Watt University. I studied Chemical and Process Engineering when classes were based at Chambers Street in Edinburgh city centre. My degree has led to a wonderful life, travel and experiences for my family.”
Married with three daughters now studying at college, Bryan has dual UK and US citizenship and remains a keen follower of the fortunes of top English Premiership football team and FA Cup holders, Arsenal.
Grateful for the opportunities Heriot-Watt has afforded him, Bryan is an enthusiastic donor with the aim of helping future students at the University.
“I was the first in my family to attend University and was very fortunate in those days to have the majority of my tuition paid for by the state in the form of a grant, which I supplemented by working hard in summer jobs. Paying back to help someone with talent but who is perhaps financially constrained is a small contribution I am now in a position to make that hopefully has a big impact on someone’s life.”
