Court positions

Three Court positions will be available within the coming year, with further positions becoming available in 2019 and beyond.  We are interested to receive expressions of interest from individuals who have contemporary high level experience (preferably including international experience), skills and leadership in any of the following areas:

  • Finance and business strategy
  • Fundraising and alumni relations
  • Estate and facilities strategy and management (including major projects)
  • The student experience or promotion of research in tertiary education
  • Strategic information services including digital technology

A combination of any of the above areas of expertise with experience involving risk assessment/ management and systems of control would be advantageous.  

All members of the Court are expected to accept membership of at least one Court committee. Normally the committee chosen will be one which accords with that person’s particular field of experience.

Court committee positions

We have current Court committee vacancies, with more arising in 2018 and 2019 and beyond.  Contemporary high level experience (preferably including international experience) and skills are sought in any of the following areas:

  • Finance and business strategy (Finance Committee)
  • HR planning and change management (Staff Committee)
  • Estate and Facilities strategy and management (major projects) (Campus Committee)
  • Legal / Compliance (Ordinances and Regulations Committee)

A combination of any of the above areas of expertise with experience involving any of the following would be advantageous.

  • Fundraising and alumni relations
  • The student experience or promotion of research in tertiary education
  • Risk assessment / management and systems of control
  • Strategic information services including digital technology

Candidates whose skills and experience might match vacancies arising beyond 2019 may be offered the opportunity to have their application held until such vacancies arise in the future.

For both Court and the committees it is important that applicants have:

  • A strong track record in area of expertise
  • Experience of working, planning, influencing and decision-making in a strategically complex environment
  • Evidence of successful leadership in a governance and collective decision-making context
  • Evidence of ability and willingness to make the necessary time commitment

Court and Court committee positions are unpaid although reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid in accordance with the University’s Travel and Expenses Policy
