Students had a ball recently when they took to the dance floor in aid of a mental health charity.

Members of the Heriot-Watt University Chemistry Society raised £688 for SAMH at their Winter Ball held in the Edinburgh Corn Exchange.

Kirsty Tindal, Co-President of the Chemistry Society, said: “SAMH is a fantastic and proactive charity in which Chemistry Society were so pleased to have raised money for. The evening showed so much support for SAMH from all the students that went, clearly shows how important mental health is to us all and a cause that lies close to many of us. Overall a great evening to raise money for a great charity!"

More than 120 students showed their support for the worthwhile cause by signing-up to the event.

SAMH Campaigns and Communications Manager Marisa Mahood added: “We are delighted that the Heriot-Watt Chemistry Society raised over £600 for SAMH, a heartfelt thank you. At SAMH we know how a mental health problem can affect everything. It can have the most profound impact on our relationships, our work, our wellbeing and our quality of life.

“With more than 3,500 calls each year to our information line, we will put this contribution to good work, and be there for people when they need us.”
