A major new campaign, which today launches simultaneously in North America, London and China, will showcase Scotland’s world-leading assets to a global audience.
The ‘Scotland is Now’ campaign is designed to showcase the country as a place to live, work, study, invest and visit. It is the first time that the Scottish Government, VisitScotland, Scottish Development International and Universities Scotland have joined forces to promote Scotland under a single, unified and national brand.
Heriot-Watt University PhD student, Larissa Slaney, will appear in one of the first person ‘People Stories’, sharing why she chose to study in Scotland and why Heriot-Watt’s supportive atmosphere and world-leading credentials helped her to choose the University’s Edinburgh campus as the setting for her research project.
Several students studying at the School of Textile and Design at Heriot-Watt’s Scottish Borders Campus appear in a film about Anna Freemantle, founder and creative director of the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival and Mark Hogarth, creative director for Harris Tweed Hebrides. The film will feature some of the School's unrivalled facilities, ranging from craft and traditional techniques through to cutting-edge advanced technologies.
As well as building on Scotland’s acknowledged strengths as a land of unrivalled history, breath-taking scenery and warm welcomes, ‘Scotland is Now’ also shines a light on lesser-known qualities: a pioneering, dynamic and progressive nation that is taking the lead on key global challenges.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who unveiled the campaign in China, said: “The message at the heart of ‘Scotland is Now’ is of a bold and positive country offering the warmest of welcomes, rich in history and heritage and with a progressive, pioneering and inclusive approach to our future.
“The campaign will inspire people to be part of Scotland’s future and tell Scotland’s story through those who know it best – people who have embraced living, working, studying, visiting and investing here.”
