Honorary Graduates Autumn 2013
Anne Richards, Chief Investment Officer of Aberdeen Asset Management was among the recipients of honorary degrees at the November graduation ceremonies.

The autumn season of graduations at Heriot-Watt included honorary degrees for a group of eminent recipients.

Edinburgh Campus

Professor Ian Mason, Professor Emeritus, Heriot-Watt University, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his pre-eminent, pioneering and influential contribution to studies in the fields of translating and interpreting, and for his contributions to the advancement of teaching and scholarship at Heriot-Watt University.

Mariot Leslie, British Ambassador based in Brussels as the UK's Permanent Representative to NATO, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the British Diplomatic Service over the course of a long and distinguished career.

Robin Angus, Executive Director of Personal Assets Trust Plc, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his pre-eminence in the field of investment trusts and his exceptional contribution to the advancement of education in finance and investment.

Professor Søren Asmussen, Professor of Applied Probability at Aarhus University, Denmark, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of his world-leading and influential contributions to research in the field of applied probability over the course of a long and distinguished career.

Douglas Oakervee, Chairman of Laing O'Rourke Construction (Hong Kong) and Non Executive Chairman of High Speed Two Limited (HS2), was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his outstanding contribution to civil engineering and his leadership and achievements in the delivery of major infrastructure projects internationally.

Anne Glover, Chief Scientific Adviser to the European Commission, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the British Diplomatic Service over the course of a long and distinguished career.

Brenda Dulaney, Former President and Managing Director of Chevron Upstream Europe, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of her distinguished career and outstanding leading contributions to the international oil and gas industry.

Tony Pidgley, Chairman of The Berkeley Group Plc, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of his outstanding leading contribution to house building, and achievements in sustainable urban development.

Dubai Campus - Wednesday 20 November

Corrado Sommariva, Managing Director ILF Consulting Engineers, Dubai, will be awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition, through a distinguished career, of his outstanding and leading contribution to the research and economics of desalination and advanced water treatment.
