Which programme should I take?
We offer several different academic English and pre-sessional English language programmes to help you meet the level required to study at Heriot-Watt University.
The table shows you which English programme you should take, depending on your existing English qualifications:

Exceptions:
(1) For degree programmes in the School of Management & Languages, students will need to have scored 5.5 in Reading and Writing & 5.0 in Listening and Speaking
(2) For degree programmes in the School of Management & Languages, students will need to have scored 5.5 in Reading and Writing & 5.0 in Listening and Speaking
If you are a non-native speaker of English, we strongly recommend that you complete at least some part of our English programme before you start your studies, even if your English is already of a high level. Block 3 is highly recommended for those who have met their English conditions.
