Heriot-Watt University Clearing

Clearing vacancies – international (non-EU) applicants and applicants from England, Wales and Northern Ireland

All of our undergraduate programmes have vacancies in Clearing and are open to applicants from England, Wales and Northern Ireland and to international (non-EU) applicants.

Clearing vacancies – Widening Access vacancies for Scottish applicants

Heriot-Watt University is committed to widening access to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and uses a contextual approach in our admissions procedures to enable us to select applicants with the greatest potential to succeed. As part of our work on widening access, the Scottish Government has assigned a number of additional places to the University for students entering in 2013 whose home address is within the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 40% most deprived areas (SIMD40). This initiative is aimed at further increasing the number of students who reside in key areas of underrepresentation in higher education taking up a place of study at the University.

If you are permanently resident in Scotland and interested in applying for any of our programmes, please contact the University on +44 (0) 131 451 3376 so that we can advise if you are eligible to be considered for one of the additional SIMD40 places. We will ask you for your postcode so that we can check to see if you live in one of the areas the Scottish Government has defined as being part of the above initiative. Entry requirements may be relaxed slightly for applicants under this initiative as per the University's Undergraduate Admissions Policy

Clearing closed - Scottish applicants

Due to Scottish Government limits on the number of places, the University has no vacancies in Clearing and is closed to Scottish applicants who are not eligible to be considered under the above initiative.

Clearing closed -  EU (non-UK) applicants

Due to Scottish Government limits on the number of places, the University has no vacancies in Clearing and is closed to applicants from the EU-outside the UK.

Practical advice on applying in Clearing

Once you have checked the above information to find out if you would be eligible to apply for a place at Heriot-watt, the information below will help you getting started with your application..

  • Applicants can view Heriot-Watt programme information on our Undergraduate study pages.
  • Applicants who have already applied this cycle and who hold no offers will be able to add a Clearing choice in UCAS Track.
  • Those who have not already applied this cycle can still complete a first application via UCAS Apply until 20 September. Applications will be entered into Clearing so you should not fill in any choices on your application during your initial application submission.
  • Before adding a choice or submitting a first application, it is vital that applicants contact the Admissions Tutor for the programme they are interested in applying for, to find out if they will be accepted or not. Contacts can be found on the main Undergraduate programme pages.

Full information about Clearing can be found at the UCAS website.
