Michael Conlon, Web Editor

My role is the overall management of all the University’s websites including internal staff and student pages from a content publishing perspective to ensure integrity and quality control. My responsibilities also include training staff to use the OpenText Content Management System, search engine optimisation (SEO), web analytics and statistics.

In addition, I support the team in CMS admin and testing, information architecture, design and usability.

Background

I graduated with a BA in English and Psychology from University College Dublin and worked for a number of years as Intranet editor for a company in London before becoming editor of the company’s website. I joined the web team at Heriot-Watt in 2005 and have a wealth of experience of the various legacy web applications in use here, as well as over a decade’s experience of all aspects of web work going back to the ghastly MS Frontpage 98.
