Frank MacDonald, Web Development Manager

As the university Web Development Manager I have primary responsibility for service delivery of the website and related systems to users within the University. I focus on strategic technical management whilst taking a pro-active and hands-on approach to improving the web service and researching emerging technologies.

I am responsible for the corporate Content Management Systems (OpenText Web CMS, SharePoint Intranet & Joomla CMS) throughout the university.

I also provide support in web development and web systems administration.

Background

I graduated with a degree in Land Economy from the University of Aberdeen followed by a Masters in IT from the University of Stirling.

Previously I worked as the webmaster/web developer at the Scottish Agricultural College  and introduced Mediasurface CMS to replace the 'quirky' FrontPage external website and build an intranet. I also cut my teeth with SharePoint at the SAC, utilizing its many features to provide collaboration and document management for staff and partner organisations.

I learnt to love all things CMS working as a web developer at Sitekit CMS on my native Isle of Skye.
