Transport
Growth in traffic is causing increasing problems in Edinburgh and the
surrounding areas. Congestion is forecast to at least double and
possibly treble by 2021. The City of Edinburgh Council has established a
new company, Transport
Initiatives for Edinburgh (tie ltd) which is responsible for
delivering a number of major new transport projects for and around
Edinburgh in the next 10–15 years, including the tram network.
As part of the Council's strategy, many businesses in Edinburgh,
including the University, have to provide sustainable 'green' transport
plans. Consequently, Heriot-Watt University is working on its own
transport plan, with the help of
SISTech, a
not-for-profit sustainable development institute, that is 50% owned by
the University.
This website will keep you up to date with information on the
University transport plan for the Edinburgh Campus, as well as providing
information on public transport to the University and updates on
transport issues in Edinburgh.
