The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences offers a prestigious scholarship to one or two new students per year who excel academically.
In order to quality to be considered for this scholarship applicants should:
- Have received an offer of a place of study for 2013,
- plan to accept the offer of a place by 30th June 2013,
- Be resident in Malaysia,
- be classed as an overseas student for tuition fee purposes,
- be responsible for paying their own tuition fees ( i.e. not sponsored by a government or company),
- apply for the scholarship before 30th June,
- Achieve a minimum of A*, A* A including Mathematics at A* in A-Level exams or equivalent academic achievement.
The award is given as a tuition fee discount of 25% from the published tuition fee for each academic year and will be applied to your tuition fee account. The award will be carried forward for subsequent academic years, so long as you pass all assessments at first attempt and maintain a year average of 65%.
If you qualify for all of the criteria above and would like to be considered please apply via the scholarship application form on the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences website. You can mention your financial circumstances and/or your academic strengths and why you wish to study at Heriot-Watt University.
Please be aware that the School will only award an applicant one scholarship per year e.g. if you are awarded the MACS Malaysia Scholarship you wouldn’t receive the MACS Undergraduate Overseas Scholarship, but you may apply for both. This scholarship is not open to current students, only those who enrol as new students from 2013-14.
All applications received by the deadline of 30th June will be considered following receipt of A-Level results in August 2013. The committee will award the scholarship to 1-2 new students on the basis of having met the award criteria and based on the strength of the scholarship application statement. Please be aware that meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee that the award will be made – we have many students who exceed the minimum academic requirements each year.
