MASTS is a partnership of 9 Scottish institutions which aims to pool the research talent of around 700 researchers to ensure that marine science in Scotland remains internationally competitive. In addition to the Prize Studentships a further 40 funded PhD places in marine science are available across Scotland.

Although most relevant areas of research are within Life Sciences, there are some areas relevant to Petroleum Engineering and/or Energy and Renewables.
