Entry requirements for international students
We welcome applications from international students and accept qualifications from around the world.
You must demonstrate that you meet the entry requirements for the programme you wish to study. Your school-leaving certificate, college diploma, university degree or other qualifications may already meet the requirements; you should check the list of accepted qualifications for your country. If your country is not listed please contact the International Recruitment Office for advice.

Not every international school-leaving certificate meets the University's normal entry requirements. In these cases, you can consolidate your academic qualifications and improve your English language by taking a foundation programme, such as the Undergraduate Certificate or Pre-Masters qualifications at the International Study Centre . This will give you specialist preparation for both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Heriot-Watt University, and guarantees that you will receive a conditional offer of a degree place.
