Entry requirements

Admission to programmes at Heriot-Watt University is by individual assessment in which experience and skills are valued alongside formal qualifications. Similarly, evidence of motivation, understanding of the aims of a proposed programme of study, referees’ reports, and further information supplied by applicants are also important.

For more specific information on entry requirements, please contact our Recruitment & Admissions Office.

UK qualifications

We recognise that not all applicants will have had the same educational opportunities. If you don't meet the entry qualifications for one of our degree programmes, there are other routes to entry that may be available to you.

International qualifications

We welcome applications from international students and accept qualifications from around the world. Please refer to the entry requirements for your country for more details.

International students who do not meet the entry requirements can study a degree preparation course at the International Study Centre.
