Orkney Campus

Orkney is the perfect setting for our pioneering Centre for Island Technology, where we focus on renewable and marine energies.

Orkney is the perfect setting for our pioneering Centre for Island Technology, where we focus on renewable and marine energies.

Based in Stromness, our Orkney Campus is home to the International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT), which is part of Heriot-Watt's prestigious Institute of Petroleum Engineering.

ICIT is located in the Old Academy in the town of Stromness in the Orkney Islands off the north coast of Scotland. Stromness hosts a wide range of shops, a post office, banks, cafes and hotels. There is a swimming pool with fitness suite. Kirkwall, which is about 16 miles from Stromness, has a large sports complex and cinema.
