Scottish Crucible 2013
Programme
Scottish Crucible 2013 will take place over three intensive two-day workshops to be held in early Summer 2013 and hosted by one of three partner universities consecutively. Successful applicants commit to attending all three Scottish Crucible events, as follows:
- 2 - 3 May 2013 – Heriot-Watt University
- 23 - 24 May 2013 – University of Stirling
- 27 - 28 June 3013 – University of Aberdeen
Each Scottish Crucible event will consist of guest speakers, seminars, skills sessions, tours and informal discussions all aimed at helping Scottish researchers put their role into a wider context, such as how to best address the social and technical challenges facing Society. Not only will Crucible participants mix with their peers from a wide variety of science and social science backgrounds, but they'll also have a unique opportunity to network with senior representatives of science, policy, government, media and business in Scotland.
In particular, Scottish Crucible participants will:
- be welcomed with a launch event at the Royal Society of Edinburgh
- discuss policy making with specialists from the Scottish Government
- receive advice on engaging the public from media professionals
- learn how commercialisation happens in practice from Scottish entrepreneurs.
