Temporary closure and relocation of Martindale
Library in July 2007
|

A new Library/Learning Resource Centre, which will be shared by
the University and Borders College, is being designed for the
Scottish Borders Campus. As it involves major re-construction and
re-furbishment, the Martindale Library will be moving from the main
Campus building to the former dining area of the Halls of Residence
at the beginning of July.
We anticipate that the
transfer of stock, equipment and furniture will take two weeks, from
July 2nd to 13th. During this time the Library will be closed. We
plan to re-open in our temporary home in the Halls of Residence on
July 16th, 2007. We expect to move back into the main
Campus during the Christmas vacation of 2008.
We plan to offer the full range of services in the Halls of
Residence, but within a limited space. There will be a smaller Study
Area, and no Seminar Rooms. Part of the PC Caledonia Suite will be
moved to the lounge area of the Halls. Part of the CAD Lab will move
to Workshop W2.
Please ensure that before
11.30 a.m. on Friday 29th June (the afternoon of the 29th is a local
holiday, and the Campus is closed!) you:
• borrow any stock you require
• make any enquiries you have
• use any equipment you need
During our move:
• you can return stock to the Library Book Return box in the "D"
corridor of the main building.
• you can put any Inter-Library Loan request forms in the internal
mail addressed to “Inter-Library Loans, Edinburgh Campus Library”.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the move! If you have
any questions, please contact the Library Manager, Peter Sandison,
on 01896-89-2155, or by email (P.E.C.Sandison@hw.ac.uk).
