Conferment of Honorary, Visiting and Fellow Titles

The Court on the recommendation of the Senate may confer the following titles and the stated Ordinances provide information specific to each title:

With regard to appointments made in terms of Ordinances 18, 23 and 24 the Court has delegated the authority for conferring the titles to the Senate Business Committee.  For titles conferred in terms of Ordinance 25 (with the exception of Professorial Fellow) the Senate has delegated to the Senate Business Committee the recommendations to the Court of the titles and the Court has agreed that the PME should bring to the Court the recommendations from the Senate Business Committee.

In order that the Principal’s Management Group and the Senate Business Committee may give full consideration as appropriate to recommendations for the conferment of the titles it is essential that the appropriate relevant information is submitted. The nomination forms which may be downloaded from above for completion provide detailed information on completion and required documentation.

The title of Professorial Fellow may be conferred by the Senate only on the recommendation of a committee, as detailed in paragraph 3 of Ordinance 25.
