Before the ceremony

  1. You must arrive at Old Parish and St Paul’s Church by 9.45 am for robing.

  2. On arrival you should go to the large hall at the rear of the church to obtain your gown, where you will be given assistance with robing. A steward will be there to check your name off and advise you on seating in the Church. It is essential that all prize winners report to Lesley Lindsay or Gayle Poddubecki at this point.

  3. You and your guests must be seated by 10.30 am.

  4. It is essential that you occupy the seat in the church with your name on it. A steward will be there to show you to your seat. Do not remove your name or change places.

  5. Please note that there is only disabled parking at the Church. The Church is equipped with facilities to accommodate individuals with mobility problems. However, it would be helpful if anyone bringing guests with mobility problems could inform Lesley Lindsay in advance of the ceremony l.a.Lindsay@hw.ac.uk.

Presentation of degrees and other awards

  1. Graduands will be called up to receive their awards, one row at a time.  Please remain in the order in which you were seated.

  2. When your name is called, step forward in front of the platform. The Chancellor will cap you (tap you with the graduation cap).  You will then shake hands with the Chancellor and continue across in front of the platform to receive your degree parchment.  You then return to your seat.

  3. Prizes will be presented in the Church following the presentation of degrees and other awards.

  4. After the Ceremony, graduates process out of the Church immediately following the academic procession.
