Postgraduate Water Resources programme to be launched at Dubai Campus


A MSc/Diploma in Water Resources will be launched by the School of the Built Environment at the Dubai Campus from September 2011.

The Water Resources programme is being launched to meet the demands of the region, and further afield, and builds on the success of Heriot-Watt University’s UK-based Water Resources programme.

The programme aims to develop the knowledge and skills required for planning, management and delivering sustainable water resources solutions to meet the needs of the built and natural environment within the context of climate change and water security.

The programme covers important aspects of water resources management, including:

  • Environmental Hydrology & Water Resources
  • Integrated Water Resources Management
  • Sustainability & Civil Engineering
  • Water Conservation
  • Computer Simulation of River Flows
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment
  • Water Supply & Drainage
  • Irrigation Water Management
  • Marine Water Discharges
  • Geographical Information Systems 1

The programme will include key regional issues such as groundwater hydrology and desalination and their applications to the region’s hydrological conditions.

The Water Resources programme is offered as full-time (one year) and part-time (two years), with delivery in the evenings and at weekends.
