The University Staff Golf Club is seeking new and returning members who would like to join us for some enjoyable and challenging golf outings throughout the season. Our season runs from the end of March to mid-October each year. We have members of all ability levels and new members are most welcome. Whether you are a beginner or a committed golfer the Staff Golf Club offers a very sociable way of enjoying golf. We have a small number of female members and we are particularly keen to add to more female members.
The very reasonable Membership Fee has been held at £15. This provides everyone with entry to the Horne Trophy and Plate competitions (automatic entry into plate for those who go out in first round of trophy competition). These are match play competitions which run throughout the year. Members also enjoy subsidised rates for outings.
The proposed fixture list is set out below:
- Staff vs. Students – Provisionally set for the afternoon of Wednesday 6th March.
- Spring Outing – March/early April
- Summer Outing – June/early July
- East V West Match – July/August at Ross Priory
- Annual Match vs. Newcastle University at Goswick (Berwick upon tweed) Tuesday 20th August
- Captain vs. Secretary – First week in October
The Spring and Summer Outings are organised as full day outings. Each participant can play the full day (morning and afternoon) or choose to play 18 holes in either the morning or afternoon. We try to keep the cost for these full day outings at approximately £50 including catering.
