Heriot-Watt University's SCHOLAR programme has launched Gaelic science materials in collaboration with Sṭrlann and Ḅrd na Gàidhlig.

Alasdair Allan MSP, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages, launched new science resources from Sṭrlann and Ḅrd na Gàidhlig in the Glasgow Science Centre on 29th May. The resources, which target both upper primary and secondary levels, include the on-line SCHOLAR resources for science level 3.
Professor Phillip John, Senior Dean of Heriot-Watt University and Executive Chair of SCHOLAR said, "I am delighted to be working with Sṭrlann to provide online resources for science education through the Gaelic language. It is an exciting new departure for SCHOLAR to be providing Level 3 online resources for young people at this formative age.
"We have been highly successful for over 12 years at producing on line, highly interactive Higher and Advanced Higher courses. To have the opportunity to engage with younger pupils with the best educational technology to stimulate their imagination and foster a wonder for science is fantastic."
Donald Morrison, Sṭrlann CEO said: "As part of Sṭrlann's imperative to increase the range of Gaelic online and interactive learning resources, I welcome our partnership with Heriot-Watt University's SCHOLAR programme. The new online experiments, created in conjunction with the SCHOLAR team, will serve to extend and enhance the range of learning experiences available to Gaelic learners.
"I am confident that all of the new resources will be welcomed and put to good use by teachers and the growing number of pupils in Gaelic education."
Launch event
The event was attended by Murdo Beaton, an experienced scientist and teacher, Alasdair Allan MSP, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages, Donald Morrison, CEO of Sṭrlann and Donald MacRitchie, Project Manager of Sṭrlann.
