Heriot-Watt University's Edinburgh Campus is taking part in a Scottish Government scheme to offer staff and students money back for recycling empty plastic bottles and aluminium cans.
Heriot-Watt is one of nine organisations involved in the project in partnership with Zero Waste Scotland and the Scottish Executive. Other organisations involved include IKEA Edinburgh, South Ayrshire Council and the University of Dundee.
How it works
Specialised machines are currently being installed at four locations on the Campus.
Customers will pay a refundable deposit on drinks bottles and cans bought in all campus catering outlets and vending machines.
When you recycle the bottle or can in the recycling machine you receive a voucher which can be exchanged for cash, used as money off a future purchase or donated to the Union RAG charity.
Where are the machines?
Two machines are currently being installed in the Hugh Nisbet building - one in the Central catering area and the other on the ground floor opposite the shop. Further machines will be located at the Sports Centre and in the foyer of the Student Union building.
The machines will be up and running soon - check Twitter and Facebook and the electronic newsletter for the latest on the project.
