It's now the eighth week of NSS 2013 and we currently have an overall response rate of 68.9%, which is the same as the rate at this time last year.
There are still 400 NSS eligible students who have not yet responded.
Response Rates by Department / Discipline
- Sport & Exercise Science have jumped into first place from fifth, with a response rate of 96%
- Chemistry is in second place with a response rate of 92%
- Civil Engineering and are in joint second place (with a rate of 90%)
- Actuarial Maths and Stats and Languages are not far behind (87% and 86%, respectively)
Furthermore, the following departments have already exceeded their final response rate of last year, which is an excellent achievement:
- Sport & Exercise Science – currently 96% v final 2012 80%
- Languages – currently 86% v final 2012 75%
- Architectural Engineering – currently 76% v final 2012 60%
- Civil Engineering – currently 90% v final 2012 79%
- Construction Management & Surveying – currently 76% v final 2012 73%
- Computer Science – currently 67% v final 2012 56%
- Actuarial Maths & Stats – currently 87% v final 2012 83%
However, some still have a response rate of less than 50%:
- Physics 26% (compared to 70% at the same time last year)
- Combined Studies in EPS 47%
Incentives / Prize Draws
NSS eligible students in the following departments, all of which have a response rate of over 70%, will be entered into the prize draw for their school for £100 graduation ball tickets / cash: Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management & Surveying, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, EECE, Biology, Psychology, Sport & Exercise Science, Economics, Languages, Actuarial Maths & Statistics, and Mathematics.
In addition, NSS eligible students in any department which reaches a 60% response rate will automatically receive a £10 print quota; Mechanical Engineering, Management at SBC and Textiles & Design are the latest departments to reach this milestone.
