The initial consultation on the University's new Learning and Teaching Strategy has now closed (29 March 2013). Significant numbers of staff and students provided their views – 123 attendees at the five workshops at the Edinburgh, Dubai and Scottish Borders Campuses.
Consultation
Focus groups have been held by the Student Union to gather views from students. 62 individuals have completed the online survey. Invitations to participate in the survey were extended to a selection of external stakeholders, and we received responses from employers, external examiners and professional bodies. In addition, Schools and Professional Services held their own internal meetings to discuss the Learning and Teaching Strategy. Numerous responses were also submitted by email from individual staff members, students and employers.
Feedback has been very helpful and informative, and has already identified a range of ways in which we can further refine the Learning and Teaching Strategy, including its Vision and the Heriot-Watt graduate attributes.
Key themes
At its meeting on 11 April 2013, the Learning and Teaching Board considered the key themes emerging from the consultation and agreed the framework for the next version of the Learning and Teaching Strategy.
Information on the next version of the Learning and Teaching Strategy and summaries from the consultation are now available on the Learning and Teaching Board website. The website also contains details on the process of finalising the Strategy.
Thank you very much indeed for your contributions – they have been invaluable in helping the Learning and Teaching Board to take forward the development of the Learning and Teaching Strategy. Over the coming months, there will be further opportunities for you to comment on the various drafts of the Learning and Teaching Strategy.
