The Honorary Degrees Working Group is meeting in July 2013 to consider new nominations for honorary doctorates.
The Group therefore wishes to encourage suggestions from any members of staff of the University of potential recipients for an honorary doctorate of the required eminence and distinction.
The Group is particularly interested in nominations which reflect our academic or social interests and link with the University's Strategic Plan. Nominations would be welcome on behalf of those who are active in science and engineering - especially women in these areas - and the worlds of sport, music, business and the arts.
Please note, the nominations should reflect the background of the individual, and not the organisation they work/worked for. We would particularly encourage more female and ethnic minority nominations. They may be enthusiastic supporters of the Watt Club, people of international eminence or high achievers from our own local community.
Nominations must be submitted via a nomination form (http://www.hw.ac.uk/committees/honorary/honorary-degree-nomination-form.doc), together with any other relevant supplementary information (such as a short CV), to Shirley Smillie, Executive Officer, Principal's Office (S.Smillie@hw.ac.uk).
The deadline for nominations is Monday 15 July 2013.
