Heriot-Watt Volunteer Awards

Date:

The Heriot-Watt Volunteer Awards (formerly the ‘Volunteer Oscars’) seek to recognise and reward excellence in student volunteering.

This is one of the nicest events of the year – a chance to thank all of the fantastic volunteers who make Heriot-Watt such a wonderful place to be a student!

Every year, our students volunteer their time and efforts in various capacities – for example, raising money for charity, running student groups and societies, providing academic representation as school officers and class reps, and supporting students in Halls of Residence, to name but a few of the many voluntary activities student have undertaken at Heriot-Watt this year. Increasingly, students are also volunteering locally, making a difference in our wider Edinburgh community. For this reason, we are pleased to introduce our new award category for the ‘Community Volunteer of the Year’.

Awards ceremony

The Awards ceremony will be on March 25 and is a ticketed event. Speaking at last year's event, Mike Ross, Student Union President said: “The Volunteer Awards are an excellent way to highlight the outstanding work that students do through volunteering. I am continually amazed by how great every one of them is and I am looking forward to the work we will be doing to develop an even greater number of opportunities for our students to volunteer, both within the Union and in our local community."
