Healthy Body Healthy Mind award

Date:

The University's Edinburgh Campus has once again achieved four out of five stars for the Healthy Body Healthy Mind award.

The Healthy Body Healthy Mind Awards were introduced in 2011 by NUS Scotland and Scottish Student Sport to tackle the increasingly significant issue of student mental ill health in Scotland. Taking part requires institutions to campaign on mental health issues throughout the year, improve sport and recreational programmes and opportunities, signpost to student services, and educate students about good mental wellbeing through sports unions, teams and facilities.

The University has been part of the award for three years with activties coordinated by the Healthy Universities Committee. Over the last year the Commitee has delivered several  initiatives including mental health week, wellbeing week and exam stress packs.

Sarah Robertson, Exercise Development Officer and member of the Healthy Universities Committee, said, "It is a great achievement for the University and highlights how much we are doing to improve the mental health of our students. We will work to continue to provide this high standard next year."
