This year the Energy Academy has 120 Undergraduate Project Bursaries available for projects in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical and Civil Engineering. Each bursary is worth £3000 and may be used within an industrial context to address the skill requirements for the energy sector.
Projects may run during the summer period for 2013 or be used within the academic session 2013-14 (September – March) as a final year student project. The bursary amount can be used to cover student expenses, equipment or technician time and be used in conjunction with other university initiatives. The projects will allow final year students to engage directly with companies on developing their academic skills with industry while tackling real world problems.
Energy research is a core activity at Heriot-Watt University. Through the pan-university Energy Academy, research excellence ranges from solar energy and energy-focused materials through to energy economics, use, policy and logistics.
