Dr Alan Forster, Programme leader for the MSc in Building Conservation successfully attained full programme accreditation from the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC). The full accreditation of the MSc in Building Conservation (Technology and Management) is important recognition for the programme and is excellent news for those students studying on the programme who wish to attain full IHBC membership upon graduation.
IHBC Director Seán O’Reilly said: "IHBC’s course assessment programme offers ‘Full recognition’ to courses that map to our membership accreditation standards. It means that an person who has successfully completed the course needs only two years of professional experience to apply for full accredited membership.
"Full recognition can serve as an important ‘fast-tracking’ for those applying for full membership, but it also ensures that the courses effectively balance the IHBC’s conservation priorities: the international standard in conservation represented by the ICOMOS guidelines on conservation training, and the World Bank model for environment project management. Of course applicants also must satisfy our membership requirements before Full Member status is offered."
