The NSS 2013 has now been open for two weeks and we are continuing to see excellent response rates in many areas:
Response rates - week two
- The department / discipline with the highest response rate is still Chemistry, with a response rate of 78%
- Actuarial Maths and Stats is second highest with a rate of 77%
- Mathematics and Sport & Exercise Science are in joint third place (with a rate of 70%)
NSS eligible students in these areas will be entered into the prize draw for their school for £100 graduation ball tickets / cash; in addition, these students will automatically receive a £10 print quota for reaching 60% response rate (as will Civil Engineering students, with a rate of 68%).
In terms of the results by Subject Area 'Chemistry', 'Civil Engineering', 'Maths & Stats', Languages and 'Psychology' have already achieved the minimum thresholds for publication, with 'Computer Science' not far behind.

Incentives
As an incentive, students in each department which achieves a 60% response rate will receive a £10 print quota allowance – and as a bigger incentive, Heriot-Watt is offering a prize draw in each School that reaches 70% participation, with the lucky winners in each School receiving £100 graduation ball tickets (or £100 cash, whichever they would prefer).
