At this time of year many international students are thinking of returning home. It is then that they realise how much they have accumulated. Crockery, pots and pans, in particular, can be bulky and costly to transport and are not particularly useful back home where students will have those things already. They are, however, very useful to new students who often find they have to equip a kitchen. It is in an effort to help with the costs of starting up and settling in that the Chaplaincy has for many years been running a scheme where we encourage returning students to donate any kitchen items to us that they no longer require. We then store them over the summer and make them available to as many students as possible.
We are, therefore, looking for as many people as possible to bring us any unwanted pots, pans, kitchen utensils, etc. so that we can pass these items on to new students at the start of the academic year. It helps in a small way with recycling but also assists the students with the inevitable costs of arriving in a new country and starting from scratch.
Unfortunately we do not accept bedding. Clothes, electrical items, etc. will be collected separately by the British Heart Foundation.
