The Carbon Diet Challenge

Date:

Take part in the carbon diet challenge to shed  some carbon weight.

The average person in the UK emits 10-15 tonnes of CO2annually. This is three times higher than the world average of 4 tonnes. Our individual carbon footprints are affecting our environment.

Your challenge during March is to carry out a few simple actions to help reduce your carbon footprint. In the process of shedding some carbon weight you might lose some physical weight and save a bit of cash too.

Perhaps you can eat less meat, take the bicycle instead of the car, turn down your thermostat a notch or have a day of eating local foods. Whatever you choose to do, each action will help you shed some carbon and help the environment. Join an event in March where you can make some meat free meals, test your fuel efficiency driving skills, or have a consultation with Dr Bike.

There are points to gain for each activity and points mean prizes. There are energy monitors, meat free recipes, shower timers and bike lights to win. Transition Heriot-Watt will give you a card to log what you do and at the end of March we'll collect your cards.

For more information and to sign up you'll find us on the Bridge Link, Hugh Nisbet Building, Edinburgh Campus, during March.
