The School of Management and Languages at Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus invites high school students to participate in the UAE Inter-School Debate Competition:
- Each school can send a maximum of 3 teams (2 students per team).
- The competition will have two rounds in the morning session (each round lasting about one hour and fifteen minutes) and an afternoon session when the semi-finals and the finals are to be conducted.
- Debating is a method of interactive and representational argument. It is a set of logical arguments that stands on facts. The competition will be to debate current issues that are happening in the world as well as classical ethical issues.
- Four teams will be competing against each other in each debate; several debates are hosted at the same time. Participants will have to build up solid argument to support their side of the debate 20 minutes prior to the debate.
- All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
- The winning team will be awarded with trophies, a school cup and special prizes such as laptops, iPods and game consoles.
