Programme overview

This multi-disciplinary programme offers courses relevant to energy resources, power generation, process engineering, environmental legislation and environmental impact, energy in buildings as well as business courses. Through its portfolio of options, this programme is accessible to graduates from many Engineering and Science degrees.

The aims of the programme are to provide a practical and theoretical grounding in technologies and wider knowledge and skills relevant to the Energy sector for the practising engineer as well as decisionmaking managers and policy makers.

Heriot-Watt recognises that learning needs to be flexible and this programme allows experienced and recent graduates to tailor the programme content and structure to their specific needs.

The programme aims to equip graduates with a broad, yet detailed overview of energy resources, conversion, and use, as well as the socio-economic and environmental impacts of energy-related activities. The programme provides a broad introduction to current energy issues and specialist knowledge and skills to analyse, appraise, or design energy systems or equipment.

Assessment methods

Assessment of the taught component is through a balance of examinations and coursework.
