Our team in Malaysia

Professor Robert Craik

Bob, as he is fondly known, was previously the Deputy Principal for Learning and Teaching at Heriot- Watt University in Edinburgh where he had specific responsibility for leading and implementing the learning and teaching strategy for the University and for academic quality assurance as well as a wider role in University Management.

Before taking up key leadership responsibilities, Bob was a Professor in the School of Built Environment where his main interests were in building acoustics and vibration. He was head of the acoustics laboratory with a particular interest in developing theoretical models for predicting sound transmission in complex structures such as buildings, ships and aircrafts.

Bob loves the Malaysian sunshine and his favourite Malaysian meal is a bowl of spicy curry laksa.

An accountant by training, Janice is a member of the Certified Practising Accountants of Australia. She started her career as an external auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers Malaysia. She joined the education industry after she was employed to set up the Internal Audit Department at the corporate office of the Taylor’s Education Group, a Malaysian private higher education group offering education from pre-school to postgraduate studies.

She moved on to head the academic services portfolio at Taylor’s Business School and then the Academic Services and Registry for tertiary programmes at Taylor’s.

Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, she was the Registrar of Taylor’s University, Malaysia.

Jessie Teo

A mass communication graduate, Jessie started her career in the education industry as the Country Manager responsible for the student recruitment from the Asia Pacific region and managing six Malaysian regional offices for the Raffles Education Group, Singapore.

Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Jessie was the Marketing and Administration Manager of the South East Asian Regional Office of Sheffield Hallam University.

Hiew Kwee Sen

Kwee Sen is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and Certified Practising Accountants of Australia. She has over 15 years of experience in external audit, finance and accounting, of which 10 years was in MNC IT companies.

Kwee Sen has had the experience of successfully setting up the Finance and Accounts and Operational teams/department for the IT companies, which she is now looking forward to share her experience and expertise at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

Madeleine Tan

Until recently, Madeleine was the International Marketing Director for one of the largest gaming companies in the world, where she was in charge of new markets development for the lottery sector. With considerable international experience across 40+ countries, she has been involved in several major start-ups.

Prior to the gaming industry, Madeline was the Programme Director (International) at the University of Western Australia, and was instrumental to starting up the Graduate School of Management’s MBA programs in Singapore and Indonesia.

Madeleine looks forward to engaging with students and partnering with a wide range of industry as part of the team that brings this exciting and ambitious international campus to Malaysia.

Chew Jade Theng

Jade is an alumnus of Heriot-Watt University. She was a distance learning student in 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration. She has fifteen years of experience in various industries and in different roles from finance to accounting and education. She started her career as a financial auditor in Penang, a northern state of Malaysia before relocating to Kuala Lumpur.

Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Jade worked for the Sunway Education Group, Malaysia as a senior finance executive in Finance Department. She moved on to become a Programme Leader for the Victoria University, Australia's MBA programme at Sunway University before spending her final year as as a Programme Administrator at the Centrefor English Language Studies.

She is grateful to be part of the Heriot-Watt family and looks forward to providing support and assistance to the students of Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

Josephine Chew

Jo Chew has more than 18 years of human resources experience with 14 years in the education sector, having worked in Monash University Malaysia and Taylor's College. She started her career in human resources with MBf Holdings Bhd, Group Human Resources. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Australia.

Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, she was the Manager, Human Capital Management for NCSI (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, a member of the SingTel Group. She brings to Heriot-Watt University Malaysia her knowledge and experience which she believes will be an added value to the University

Norsiyati Mohd Noor

Norsiyati is a graduate of the University of Hull, where she obtained her Master of Business Administration in Business Finance.

She started her career in teaching at SEGi College and has taught subjects such as International Business, Management, Strategic Management and Organisational Behaviour.  She left SEGi College to join Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College where she headed the Compliance/Regulatory Affairs and Centre Support Department.

She has extensive experience in managing programme approvals and accreditation by government authorities such as the Malaysian Qualifications Agency and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.  She is also a certified internal auditor having conducted many audits in her previous employment. Prior to joining Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, she was the Senior Executive, Academic Quality & Quality Assurance at Sunway University.

Nor Israwani has more than 10 years of secretarial experience having worked in Maju Holdings Sdn Bhd and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia. During her employment with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia, she was appointed as Personal Assistant to the High Commissioner for Malaysia in Canada and was posted in Ottawa, Canada for 3 years. In 2006, she was awarded the 'Excellence Service Award' by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for organising the celebration of Malaysia 50th anniversary of Independance in Ottawa, Canada.

She holds a diploma in Secretarial Science from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and is currently pursuing a degree in Mass Communication in the same university
