There are fewer new sites listed in this month's issue than normal, as both of the editors have recently been on holiday. While everyone else in the UK was getting wet, Gordon was over on the west coast of Scotland enjoying some reasonable weather, and I spent two weeks in Brittany, where it was so hot there was nothing I could do except lay on a beach and read (what else) French Internet magazines (see below for more details). I also stayed at Le Cours de la Baie, a family-run French language school located in a delightful 18th century farmhouse (Le Vieux Vaulerault) close to Cancale and not far from St Malo on the north Brittany coast.

Le Vieux Vaulerault

I can thoroughly recommend Le Cours de la Baie to anyone who wants to combine French language lessons with a holiday in Brittany. The tutor gave me some leaflets about the courses on offer, and if you would like one, send your address to me R.A.MacLeod@hw.ac.uk

Two weeks away from the Internet? Well, not quite. I found a cybercafe, the Cybernet Online, at rue St-Georges, Rennes, where access to UK sites at 28kbs was fairly fast, and most UK and US sites loaded impressively quickly. And at a street-market in Carnac I was admiring some paintings when the artist in question Pierre Converset, gave me his card on which was, naturellement, his Web address!
